Benzene

BenzeneBenzene, a clear liquid chemical, is so widely used that most people are exposed to it several times a day. But there can be dangerous and deadly effects on those who are exposed to benzene for long periods or at high levels.

As a matter of fact, the Environmental Protection Agency has categorized benzene as a Class A carcinogen.

Benzene is responsible for a number of health disorders and is linked with various types of leukemia.

PollutionBenzene and health disorders
Benzene occurs naturally in the environment, but more threatening is that it is used in a wide variety of man-made products. Such products include solvents, plastics, detergents, synthetic fibers, rubber, dyes, paint and resins.

People who work with petroleum-based solvents inhale the vapors and are at an increased risk for being diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML).

Benzene is responsible for a number of health disorders and is linked with various types of leukemia. Benzene exposure has been proven to cause respiratory problems, skin problems, blood disorders and cancers linked to AML, chronic myelogenous leukemia, acute lymphocytic leukemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, hairy cell leukemia, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, multiple myeloma and myelodysplastic syndrome.

Benzene exposure and its many symptoms
The symptoms of benzene exposure are often non-specific, sometimes resembling the flu. People exposed to benzene may suffer fatigue, weakness, joint pain, weight loss, infection, fever, swollen glands, and abdominal swelling and pain. They are also subject to abnormal bleeding and bruising.

If you or a loved one have been injured by exposure to benzene, you may be eligible to file a benzene lawsuit. Please contact Sam Levine toll-free at (888) 404-LAWYER or fill out our online contact form.
