Nuva Ring Lawsuits
Dozens of patients have already filed NuvaRing lawsuits against the manufacturer of the birth control ring, Organon USA.
These lawsuits have alleged that the company misrepresented the health risks of the NuvaRing by marketing it as a safe alternative to the Ortho Evra birth control patch.
The increased blood clots risk can leave patients vulnerable to a number of other serious NuvaRing side effects
Although the NuvaRing contains a lower hormone dose that birth control pills, the device uses a different type of the hormone progestin than older types of birth control pills.
Several studies have confirmed that the NuvaRing and other birth control products that use this type of progestin can double a woman’s risk of serious blood clots or deep vein thrombosis.
This increased blood clots risk can leave patients vulnerable to a number of other serious NuvaRing side effects, including heart attack, stroke or pulmonary embolism.
A number of patients have died or been seriously injured after experiencing the side effects of the NuvaRing.
So far, more than three dozen of these patients or their families have filed NuvaRing lawsuits against Organon over charges that the company misrepresented the safety of the birth control ring.
Legal experts estimate that more than a hundred NuvaRing lawsuits will be filed in the U.S. by early 2008.
