Zyprexa

Zyprexa

ZyprexaZyprexa (olanzapine) is an antipsychotic medication originally used to treat symptoms of schizophrenia, manic depression and other psychotic illnesses.

Zyprexa is also commonly prescribed for milder conditions like Alzheimer’s, personality disorders and depression, as well as for conduct disorder and severe aggression in children.

Eli Lilly has set aside nearly $700M to settle Zyprexa lawsuits—an indication of how many consumers may have been affected.
ZyprexaZyprexa and diabetes
Numerous well-publicized reports have linked Zyprexa use to the serious and sometimes fatal disease diabetes, and to related problems like diabetes-induced heart attacks.

Zyprexa may also be associated with higher incidences of hyperglycemia (high blood sugar), hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), other blood sugar disorders and pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas).

Doctors’ and researchers’ suspicions
Many doctors and researchers now suspect that Zyprexa and similar “new-generation” antipsychotic medications may directly cause diabetes. Studies have consistently shown that these drugs are associated with significant weight gain—a major risk factor for diabetes—and numerous instances of diabetes deaths from heart attacks have been reported.

Many injured Zyprexa users say they were inadequately warned about these serious Zyprexa side effects. Eli Lilly agreed in 2005 to set aside nearly $700 million to settle then-pending Zyprexa lawsuits—just one indication of how many consumers may have been affected.

If you or a family member have taken Zyprexa and developed serious side effects like diabetes, hyperglycemia, other blood sugar disorders or pancreatitis, call experienced Zyprexa attorney Sam Levine now, toll-free at (888) 404-LAWYER for your free and confidential consultation or use our online contact form.
